Dalcroze Society of America

New York Chapter

Supporting Dalcroze education in New York City.

Welcome to the New York Chapter of the Dalcroze Society of America.

The New York chapter of the Dalcroze Society of America supports both teachers and learners by fostering the teachings, writings, and methodology of Emile Jaques-Dalcroze.

The education, research, and artistic expression of music teachers, performers, composers, and choreographers in New York are enhanced through our annual series of workshops and social gatherings. Our chapter seeks to contribute to the future of music education by preserving the lessons of the past while encouraging innovation, research, and independent, artful teaching.

Dalcroze Education is a method developed in the early 20th century by Swiss musician and educator Emile Jaques-Dalcroze to teach music to his students, provide them with a solid rhythmic foundation, and enhance their musical expression.
