Nicole Brockmann

Nicole M. Brockmann earned her BFA from Carnegie Mellon Univer-
sity in viola performance and her MM, AD, and DMA from Yale University. She holds the Dalcroze certificate and license from the Marta Sanchez Dalcroze Training Center at CMU, where she is a core faculty member. She has been a faculty member at institutions including DePauw University and West Virginia University and has performed, taught, and offered masterclasses both nationally and internationally. Her Dalcroze work focuses on movement, solfège, and plastique animée, with particular emphasis on using eurhythmics in instrumental and vocal master classes to heighten musicianship and solve musical problems. She is a past president of the Dalcroze Society of America and is the author of From Sight to Sound: Improvisational Games for Classical Musicians (Indiana University Press, 2009).
