Presenter Information 

​​Toru Sakai completed his Diplôme Supérieur at the Institut Jaques-Dalcroze, Geneva. He is Chair of Certification and License Programs, Jaques-Dalcroze Society of Japan and was appointed to the Collège of the Institut Jaques-Dalcroze, Geneva in 2015. Director of the International Dalcroze Seminar at Nagoya School of Music, Toru supervises the Dalcroze Certification Program at Hansei University in Korea. He was formerly the Vice-President of the Dalcroze Society of Japan.

He gained his Dalcroze Licence at the Dalcroze School of Music (New York) and Longy School of Music (Boston), and took further Dalcroze study at Carnegie Mellon University. He ​was awarded​the ​Bachelor of Music Education by Kunitachi College of Music, Tokyo. He has been invited to teach in USA, UK, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea.

Toru Sakai is the 2018 DSA National Conference Special Guest Teacher.

2018 DSA Lifetime Contribution Award

Lisa Parker received her Dalcroze training at the New York Dalcroze School under Dr. Hilda Schuster. In 1965 she earned the Diplome, the highest degree in Dalcroze studies at the Institut Jacques­-Dalcroze in Geneva, Switzerland. She is a graduate cum laude of Smith College and received a MM from New England Conservatory of Music in Orchestral Conducting. She was conductor of the New England Conservatory Youth Singers for six years.

She developed and was head of the Dalcroze department at the Longy School of Music from 1977 until her recent retirement, building a department which is recognized and praised throughout the Dalcroze world. In 2003, Lisa was awarded the first George Seaman award for excellence in teaching.

Lisa has given workshops in Dalcroze Eurhythmics throughout the US and in many European countries as well as Canada, Australia, Israel, Japan and Taiwan. She has taught at every International Congress at the Institut Jacques­Dalcroze since 1979.

Lisa Parker will be honored with the 2018 DSA Lifetime Contribution to Dalcroze Education Award at the 2018 Conference.
